Because there have been few posts here of late... The last two books… - What if the noise is nothing but sound?

Because there have been few posts here of late...

The last two books I read were The Stranger, by Albert Camus, and Allegiance by Timothy Zahn. The Stranger was...strange. Yes. I feel like I'd really understand it better if others read it and discussed it with me. I think the point was sort of outside of the main character, if...that make sense? Like, there was a moral, it just wasn't really exemplified in the life of the guy, like you'd expect. I babble. It was interesting and a quick read. Allegiance is a Star Wars book so I doubt anyone in this group would be interested in it, but it was good - not the best, but still fun. I think the more Zahn writes though, the less time he spends on character development, devoting time instead to his twisty, tightly-knit plots. Which is sad because his original characters are awesome and his characterization of the movie characters is the most accurate of the SW authors I've read. Sigh.

I am currently half-way through Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and I am starting to like it a lot. The first hundred pages were sort of slow-paced, but it's really picking up. In fact, I think I'll go pick it up right now.

I read The Stranger a few years ago and have been waiting for people to discuss it with ever since. I like it quite a lot.

I think we should have a real flesh and blood book club. Is anyone with me on this?

My father bought me a copy of The Stranger in French. Very optimistic of him. I do not know who he thinks he's kidding.

I really want to read it someday - in either language really - and if I had time to sleep/breathe/whatever I'd totally do it now but I don't. Sad!

That's ok, I have tons of books in German that are basically incomprehensible to me. But one of these days...! Like, the first thing I bought in Germany this summer was Pride and Prejudice but I haven't even seriously attempted it. And Faust - ha!
